A little background on myself
…and what had led me to becoming a Nutrition Coach. During my childhood and through college, I have been very involved in playing sports and focusing on good nutrition. I played sports like soccer, basketball, tennis, softball, gymnastics, and dance. As an adult I moved more toward exercise and strength training. I had a membership to a gym and always tried to eat well. I tried many different diets. As I started on my fitness journey, I began at Gold’s Gym, 4 Years after having my daughter and 2 years after having my son. It was time for me to start focusing on myself. Gold’s Gym had such wonderful trainers that I was able to discover how to really train. I always worked out by doing cardio, but they introduced me to strength training and that opened up new doors to fitness. Then I discovered CrossFit! I joined Orchard Valley CrossFit that has so many wonderful coaches and an amazing community. CrossFit introduced another way of fitness and eating. A few months into starting CrossFit, the gym had a Macro Challenge. I decided to join the challenge not knowing how well I would do. The coach gave me my individualized Macros Plan of Fats, Carbs, and Protein, along with my Calories. I was so used to thinking I should be eating less calories per day and be on a low carb diet, that I did not think this would work. I was WRONG! I followed my Macros everyday, prepared meals, weighed my food, and exercised. In 4 weeks, I lost 8.4 pounds. I could not believe how I transformed my body, had more energy, and felt so healthy! This changed my way of life with food! I also thought to myself, I can do the same to help others.
Before becoming a nutrition coach
I was a Teacher for 15 Years! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education. As a teacher, I always worked to help my students reach their goals. I would guide them through each day by providing them with relevant materials, accepting all students, setting achievable Goals, encouraging them in their academic groups, and being there with them every step of the way. I always thought that teaching was my passion and my final career, but it was not. As I was going through my Macro Challenge, people kept asking me what I was doing to lose weight and feel so healthy. I would give them advice and guide them through. Something clicked in my head and I said to myself “this is my passion”. I loved helping others reach their weight loss goals and feel good about themselves. I am using my own experience to help others!
My business name:
I chose this business name because it’s a name that has been in my family for many years. My grandparents started the name as Home Quality Bakery. It was a bakery in a little city called Beacon, NY. It was a very well known bakery in town. After the bakery, my brother used the name for his landscaping business, Home Quality Lawn Care. Now it is my turn to use it for Home Quality Nutrition. It is a name that has been helping people in the community for years but for different reasons! Now it’s time for me to help people within my Home Quality Nutrition Community, to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.
